This first version keeps data collection minimal. Do not treat anonymous chat as a guarantee of anonymity.
What information is collected?
The service processes your socket connection, a session-only nickname, and optional interests to operate matching and chat. The server uses an internal temporary identifier to route a conversation. Network and diagnostic data may also be processed by the hosting provider.
Are nicknames and interests stored?
They are used in memory for the active session and are not written to a user profile. Shared interests may be shown to the matched person when there is overlap.
Camera and microphone
Your browser requests camera and microphone access only after you click “Enable camera & mic.” Media is sent through WebRTC and is not recorded or stored by this application. Peer-to-peer networking may expose network information to the other endpoint; TURN or hosting infrastructure may relay traffic in some configurations.
Text messages
Messages are routed only to the other participant in your active conversation and are held in memory only while being delivered. This app does not persist chat history.
Reports and blocks
Reports are stored in a private server-side JSONL file with the time received, category, optional explanation, and internal temporary reporter and reported identifiers. Configure access controls, retention, and secure backups before public deployment. Anonymous blocks are held in server memory and are lost when the server restarts.
Ending a session
Use End chat to leave a conversation and stop your local camera and microphone. Closing the tab or losing your connection also ends your server session. You can stop camera or microphone tracks at any time from the controls.
What anonymity does not mean
Nicknames are not verified identities. This service cannot guarantee anonymity, age, university affiliation, or that another person will not capture your screen. Your browser, network, service host, and peer connection may reveal information. Avoid sharing contact details or sensitive information.
Adults only
This service is intended for adults and is not suitable for people under 18. Queue entry requires an 18+ self-attestation, but the first version does not verify age or identity. Do not use the service if you are a minor.
This policy describes the included application behavior. Operators must update it to reflect their hosting, logging, retention, and legal obligations.
